The excellent and unparalleled 'Worship Anthems' series captures an international and unified sound of worship from some of the most popular conferences, events and lead worshippers. Worship Anthems 2017 will continue in the same esteemed way as last year's release and likely to feature songs led by Jesus Culture, Chris McClarney, United Pursuit, Sound Of Wales, Stuart Townend, Ben Cantelon, Sarah Bird, Graham Kendrick, Cathy Burton and others at significant events including Spring Harvest, NewDay, Worship Central, Keswick and One Event.

There are so many good worship albums out there that it is not possible to buy them all, well not unless you LOVE worship music and eat, sleep and breathe it. At the same time you don't want to miss out on the best songs of the last year that are being picked up by churches. This is very much a 'first world problem' that you might be faced with. Thankfully the great people at Elevation come to the rescue with their "Worship Anthems" series and this is a selection of the best tracks from 2016's concerts, events, festivals and more and features many of the songs that are on the move through the churches around the United Kingdom and globally.

The album starts with "In The River" which is from Jesus Culture "Let It Echo" album and then blasts through 30 tracks. Some of these are tracks that you will probably already be familiar with, songs like; "It Is Well" by Kristene DiMarco, "Love Takes Over" from Soul Survivor, "Good Good Father", "Lion and the Lamb" and "No Longer Slaves".

There are some less well known tracks that I am glad to see showcased on this album. Most people are familiar with Soul Survivor, Spring Harvest, New Day and Jesus Culture which feature prominently on this album, but it is good to see other individual artists and collectives featured. John Mark McMillan's live album "Live at the Knight" gets a track as does "Simple Gospel" and a few others which will not be familiar to many and may well open up people to some new or different worship artists and in turn expose those artists to a bigger audience.

This is a great selection of the most recent tracks that is expressing the heart of worship, at least from Elevation represented events. There is a rich vein of worship coming through from different streams of the church at the moment, some of these will not catch on in local church worship, but at least this album gives them an opportunity and a platform.
